The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Associate. This position will support research activities at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and will work under the direction of a Principal Investigator or Program Director. Specifically, the duties and responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to, conducting experiments involving motor control, neurophysiology, and neuroplasticity in humans with and without spinal cord injury; contributing to basic and applied research activities by collecting and analyzing data, and maintaining databases; using the Brainsight Neuronavigation MRI System; using single pulse, paired-pulse, and rapid transcranial magnetic stimulation; using of the KINARM upper-limb robotic system; using of the Zero-G locomotor system; using of Martlab and cambridge electronic design for data acquisition and analysis systems; understanding and interpreting research protocols and procedures; participating in the publication of significant results; advancing expertise through continued education, training, and/or research; maintaining an overview of relevant research findings; ensuring all research is undertaken according to good research practice and guidance; and recruiting patients, collecting data and analyzing, preparing manuscripts, and disseminating results. Duties and responsibilities may also include management of specialized laboratory equipment; maintaining equipment in excellent working condition; communicating equipment failure to technical support; running guided diagnostic failure scans; maintaining inventory of current equipment; and assisting in the selection of new devices.
The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: Ph.D., M.D., or other doctoral level degree. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to work well in a team environment. Proficient in the use of hardware and software in order to manage and evaluate equipment such as pre-amplifiers, amplifiers, magnetic stimulators, magnetic coils, etc. Possess good leadership as well as good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to professionally collaborate with other members of the laboratory.
