A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Pamela Itkin-Ansari at the Sanford-Burnham-Prebys Medical Discovery Institute (SBPMDI) , La Jolla, California, to study protein-protein interactions in diabetes. We are investigating the hypothesis that alterations in the proinsulin interaction network play a role in beta-cell failure. The long-term goal of this project is to develop a novel paradigm for understanding ER stress pathways in beta-cell function and diabetes.
The candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in the Biological Sciences and experience/publications in islet biology. They must have experience in Mass spec/proteomic studies, expression analysis, IP-Westerns, functional assays, and have bioinformatics experience. Required skills include tissue culture, cell and molecular biology, fluorescent microscopy, computational biology and writing. Experience with mice is highly desirable.
