This ad is posted for a position of Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), Galveston, Texas. The research areas of this position include:
1) Investigation of inflammation and aging in retinal neuronal injury;
2) Mechanisms of retinal vascular injury, repair and neovascularization;
3) Investigation of neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s disease using the retina-brain axis as a platform.
The systems used include cell culture and small animal (mouse and rat) models of a variety of retinal and brain diseases, advanced non-invasive imaging, biochemistry, immunohistochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology and omics.
The applicant should be highly motivated, love team work, and has at least one of the following backgrounds: neuroscience, neurodegenerative disease, ophthalmology, immunology, inflammation, cardiovascular disease, vascular biology, cell biology, molecular biology, pathology.
