We invite you to apply for a Postdoctoral Appointee position with our Energy Systems Division (ES).
In this role you will assist scientists and engineers in the discovery and development of advanced building insulation materials. This research specifically involves the development of advanced computational models for novel nano-structural superinsulating materials for buildings leading to publications and patent applications.
You will work with a team comprised of building scientists, physicists, chemists, and mechanical and aerospace engineers. Research and development of nanoscale heat transfer simulation models primarily through the use of of molecular dynamics and machine learning tools (60 %).
Prepare reports, prepare and give conference papers and presentations, and publish results in peer-reviewed journals/publications (30 %).
Assist in project coordination and communication activities with sponsors, project partners, and industry stakeholders (10 %).

We expect you to have:
PhD in Material Science, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related area.
Experience in creating and running molecular dynamics computational models.
Knowledge of nanoscale material physics or chemistry.
Experience with MD packages such as LAMMPS or NAMD.
Experience with Python, bash, and/or other scripting languages.
Experience with machine learning toolkits such as SciKitLearn, Tensorflow, Keras, or others.
Knowledge of heat transfer.
Knowledge of material science or material chemistry.
Experience in working in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Experience with Density Function Theory software packages.
Experience with phononic or photonic metamaterials.
Skill in relating to sponsors, managers, and other professionals.
