The Nanoscience and Technology Division/Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM) at Argonne National Laboratory has an available postdoctoral position in the Nanophotonics and amp; Biofunctional Structures (nPBS) group. The position is funded for one year and renewable for up to two years (subject to available funding and performance evaluation).The prospective researcher will carry out research in investigating the quantum interaction between the magnetic and mechanical degree of freedom. The selected candidate will collaborate with a group of scientists and postdoctoral researchers at CNM towards realizing quantum entanglement between magnons and phonons.
We expect you to have:
A strong experimental background in device physics in micro/nanomechanics, spintronics, superconducting circuits or other related areas is preferred.
Hands-on experience in cryogenic quantum measurements are highly preferred.
Additional expertise in numerical simulation, nanofabrication, and instrumentation is beneficial.
Strong programming and data analysis skills are a plus.
The selected candidate will utilize advanced instrumentation in the CNM to perform research in entangled quantum magnonic-phononic systems.
Ability to develop (design, fabricate, and characterize) solid state hybrid quantum systems.
Carry out cryogenic quantum measurements.
Candidate will publish results in refereed journals and make oral presentations at meetings conferences, symposia, and seminars.
Maintain cognizance of available techniques and expertise in related research groups through interactions and collaborative efforts.
Report on experiment progress, technique development, and new initiatives to peer reviewers and to program managers.
Considerable expertise in micro/nanomechanics, spintronics, or microwave device physics or other related areas.
Hands-on experience in cryogenic measurement is highly preferred.
Strong skills in numerical simulation, nanofabrication, and instrumentation.
Excellent written and oral communications, and data analysis skills.
Strong skills in collaboration and ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment.
