The Tal-Gan lab (https://talgan.wixsite.com/researchgroup) in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Nevada, Reno is seeking highly motivated and talented candidates for an NIH-funded Postdoctoral Scholar position specializing in Chemical Biology. The interdisciplinary project will focus on the utilization of chemical and biological tools to interrogate bacterial communications both within and between bacterial species. The overarching goal of this project is to exploit the cell-density signaling mechanism, termed quorum sensing, as a potential anti-infective treatment to bacterial infections that are becoming resistant to modern antibiotics.
- PhD in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or closely related field.
- PhD must have been completed within the last 5 years.
Previous experience in any of the following is desired but not required:
-Bacterial gene knock-out & plasmid construction
-Bacterial transformation assays
-Bacterial handling & cell-based assays
-Multivariable computational analysis of dynamic systems
