The laboratory of Dr. Mingshan Xue (https://www.bcm.edu/research/labs/mingshan-xue) in the Department of Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) and the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute (NRI) at Texas Children's Hospital is seeking applicants for a Postdoctoral Associate position. The Postdoctoral Associate will work in one of the following two areas: 1) Investigate the synaptic mechanisms of cortical circuits in mice using molecular genetics, electrophysiology, imaging, and behavior; 2) Collaborate closely with Dr. Hsiao-Tuan Chao’s group to study the pathogenesis of novel neurodevelopmental disorders using fruit fly and mouse models. The Postdoctoral Associate will utilize a range of approaches including molecular biology, mouse or fly genetics, mouse behavior, electrophysiology (in vivo and in vitro), optogenetics, and two-photon imaging. The Postdoctoral Associate is also strongly encouraged to develop his/her independent research program in the general area of cortical circuit and neurodevelopmental disorder. While previous experience in neuroscience is desired, we are also interested in individuals with a broad range of expertise. Preferred applicants should have a strong research record in one or more of the following areas: animal behavior, electrophysiology, imaging, molecular genetics, or biochemistry and protein engineering. Applicants with a background in math, physics, or computer science are also encouraged to apply. Applicants should submit a cover letter stating research experience and interest, a CV, and a list of 3 referees as a single PDF file.
