Job Description
The Maris Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated and experienced laboratory research assistant/scientist (PhD preferred) to join a dynamic multidisciplinary team focused on developing novel CAR T cell immunotherapies for pediatric cancer patient populations with high unmet needs. The research assistant will be responsible for performing independent experiments, optimizing assays, as well as collecting, analyzing, interpreting and presenting data. The research assistant will be exposed to a broad range of experimental approaches covering the entire developmental process of new immunotherapies from tumor target discovery and CAR engineering to preclinical safety testing and optimization. The research assistant will work as part of local and international multidisciplinary teams funded by Stand Up To Cancer and the Biden Cancer Moonshot initiatives, and will benefit from exposure to local and off-site expertise.
Job Responsibilities
•Performs lab tests which require the analysis of results and interpretation of methods
•Performs research procedures on experimental samples as agreed with PI
•Plans and develops specific research protocols and procedures
•Develops & troubleshooting new techniques and ideas
•Composes methods and sets-up protocols accurately under the direction of the program director or senior scientist, modifies methods and protocols when required
•Formulates and performs complex lab experiments and analyzes & reports the data
•Presents & discusses work at weekly lab meetings
•Prepares laboratory reagents and monitors and maintains inventory
•Performs calculations and maintains appropriate log books and lab notebooks
•Maintains laboratory equipment, safety procedures and compliance records
•Researches journal, white papers and other scientific publications for pertinent information
•Prepares data for publication or presentation at national/international symposia
•May be called upon to present at national symposia
•Supervises junior members of laboratory.
