Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (Assistant Professor) in the Department of Clinical and Translational Sciences.
The prospective faculty member will be expected to establish a sustainable, extramurally funded laboratory-based research project, make significant scholarly contributions, be an effective mentor for graduate and undergraduate students, and engage in institutional and professional service. The researcher should also be prepared to collaborate with other faculty in the Department of Clinical and Translational Sciences on biomedical research related to obesity, diabetes, hypertension and/or inflammatory bowel disease.
Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. in Biological or Biomedical Sciences (e.g. Biochemistry, Molecular/Cellular Biology, Genetics, Physiology), and should currently be within 5 years of postdoctoral research experience or hold a junior faculty position. Candidates with an established track record of at least 3-4 years of research experience at the graduate or postdoctoral level (or higher) in any aspect of epithelial transport are highly preferred.
Desirable candidates will have the potential to synergize with other departmental faculty in areas of research including but not limited to cellular transport and related signaling pathways, gastrointestinal physiology, intestinal organoid models, and gut microbiome. Applicants should also have a strong record of academic accomplishment in a relevant field of research in the form of publications and presentations at international conferences, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
