Job Description
A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the laboratory of the Dr Abdu Azad, in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (Baltimore, MD) to study molecular mechanisms operating at the host/vector/pathogen interface. Two NIH Funded Projects cover a wide range of focal areas, including vector biology, host-pathogen interaction, immunology (e.g., innate immunity), microbiology, cell biology, and biochemistry. Candidate must have a PhD, have basic experience in standard laboratory techniques for molecular biology/genetics and/or immunology. Candidates are expected to be very motivated for quality research, able to work independently, and have good written and oral communication skills. Prior work experience within the field of vector biology and obligate intracellular bacteria is a plus but not required.
