Job Description
Summary
This position will focus on vector biology and pathogenesis of tick-borne pathogens. The applicant will need experience with genomics, bioinformatics, and transcriptomics preferably in the field of relapsing fever spirochetes and/or virology. Expertise in molecular and tick biology are also desirable.
Job Duties
- Leads a genomics program in the field of vector biology and bacteriology.
- Guides the genomics program to sequence the genomes of argasid ticks and relapsing fever spirochetes.
- Organizes and completes projects focusing on the biology of tick-borne relapsing fever spirochetes and their vectors.
- Guides projects in delineating the molecular mechanisms of vector competence and pathogenesis.
- Organizes and reports data.
- Organizes data into manuscript form, submits manuscripts, and assists in grant writing.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Microbiology.
- Expertise in bioinformatics, genomics, transcriptomics, molecular biology, and vector biology.
