Job Description
We seek a talented and highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to fulfill a critical role in the Break Through Cancer (www.breakthroughcancer.org) collaborative alliance. This transformative “team science” initiative brings together scientists and clinicians at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, MIT, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and Johns Hopkins to fundamentally address key questions in the treatment of ovarian cancer. The specific project is focused on a multi-platform molecular analysis of minimal residual disease, which is the small-volume tumor that remains after upfront treatment and harbors resistant cancer cell clones. Through deep characterization of minimal residual disease, the team will gain insights into the evolutionary trajectories and molecular mechanisms that promote therapy resistance and relapse in ovarian cancer. The candidate will gain experience working closely with experts in various techniques including spatial transcriptomics, single cell sequencing platforms, and the detection and analysis of circulating tumor DNA. Beyond the work at MD Anderson, the candidate will have extensive opportunities to learn from and network with accomplished scientists and clinicians from all 5 Break Through Cancer institutions.
The primary research focus is to characterize the cancer cell-intrinsic and tumor microenvironment factors contributing to minimal residual disease and relapse in the treatment of metastatic ovarian cancer.
Requirements:
Individuals with a PhD degree in cancer biology, molecular biology, bioinformatics, genetics, or related fields. A strong background in pre-clinical translational research and/or genomics is required. Experience with computational biology techniques and high-performance computing environments is desired. Candidate should have strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects. Proven track record of publications, excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
