Job Description
Summary
The Department of Otolaryngology is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and self-motivated Postdoctoral Associate with training in tumor immunology and cancer biology. In this role, the Postdoctoral Associate will participate in the development of a precision oncology to oropharyngeal cancer under the direction of Dr. Vlad Sandulache. In particular, the Postdoc will dissect the regulatory pathways which drive acquisition of cisplatin resistance and activate immunosupressive mechanisms in treatment-resistant head and neck cancer. The postdoctoral associate is expected to be able to perform research experiments, as well as summarize data and perform statistical analyses including but not limited to univariate and multivariate analysis.
Job Duties
- Plans, directs and conducts cell culture experiments involving drug testing, transient and stable (inducible and/or constitutive) suppression or overexpression of individual genes.
- Performs CRISPR screens of cell lines.
- Acquires and maintains competency in routine techniques including but not limited to: isolation and flow cytometry sorting of immunocytes (systemic and tumor associated), Western blotting, immunoprecipitation, plasmid preparation, cell transfection and infection, clonogenic survival assays, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence.
- Performs statistical analyses.
- Establishes new research protocols and procedures.
- Summarizes research findings and publishes results in research journals.
- Assists with grant proposal writing and progress reports.
- Assists with laboratory operations.
- Supports supervision of research staff including graduate and undergraduate students.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
