The Postdoctoral Associate will be involved in preparing reports, documents, and manuscripts for review by the PI and other senior project personnel. The specific research tasks involve detailed experimental plans, implementation of the experiments (synthesis of particles and polymer derived ceramic coatings, fuel materials testing, simulations, microstructural analysis, TRISO fuel preparation and study), and preparing lab reports. The successful candidate will also carry out the processing and characterization of the samples, study the interactions and fundamental mechanisms of core particles and SiOC materials in harsh environments, and develop theoretical understanding of the proposed research. The Postdoctoral Associate will conduct work related to material degradation behaviors. She/he will assist the research of the graduate students. The post-doc will also help to develop grant proposals, deliver educational programs, and coordinate activities involving a number of project members.
PhD in Materials Science & Engineering or related field.
The candidates should have background in polymer derived materials, porous materials, coatings, extensive knowledge in microstructure characterization, strong technical writing skills, and good publication records.
