Under the guidance of a supervisor, the Postdoctoral Appointee will be conducting research in developing long-life and safe layered oxide cathode materials for electrochemical energy storage systems. The project involves physical, chemical, and electrochemical characterization of layered oxide cathodes using various characterization technologies.
The candidate will establish the relationship between the physical/chemical properties and electrochemical performance of the layered oxide cathodes. The candidate will also conduct novel characterization of these materials using advanced X-ray synchrotron measurements. Provides an understanding of the mechanisms of operation and possible methods for improvements of advanced electrochemical cells, including lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries. The candidate should be able to analyze data, prepare manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed publications, present papers at scientific meetings, and prepare reports and presentations/papers for group meetings.
