The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine seeks a highly qualified and motivated Postdoctoral Associate. The Texas Children's Hospital Center for Vaccine Development is dedicated to the discovery and development of vaccines against neglected tropical diseases and other emerging infectious diseases. The Center was established by Texas Children's Hospital in conjunction with Baylor College of Medicine. The Center has developed vaccines against hookworm and schistosomiasis that are currently in clinical trials; in earlier stages of development are vaccines against leishmaniasis, Chagas disease, and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). In discovery stages the Center is working on a vaccine that would prevent the three major soil-transmitted helminths--hookworm, ascaris, and trichuris. Applicants for this position should have a strong background in molecular biology, immunology, virology or related fields. Ph.D. Required.
