Postdoctoral research fellowship to work with on water security research at the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI) at the Doha-based Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU). Scholar's research will focus on aquifer mapping, groundwater mapping, and other water security related issues for the region. This grant supports the Statement of Intent signed by NASA/JPL and HBKU. The project may lead to the launch of a satellite-borne radar imaging technology that can be used to map underground aquifer in Qatar, with wide applications for understanding climate change on our planet and water traces on arid planets like Mars.
In addition to being a prestigious academic exchange program, the Fulbright Program is designed to expand and strengthen relationships between the people of the United States and citizens of other nations and to promote international understanding and cooperation. To support this mission, Fulbright Scholars will be asked to give public talks, mentor students, and otherwise engage with the host community, in addition to their primary activities.
