A full time post-doctoral position is available in the Department Periodontics, College of Dentistry at the University of Illinois at Chicago. The research focus of the laboratory is to investigate the impact of human herpesviruses in oral inflammation. The candidate will perform western blot analyses, DNA and RNA purification, cell culture and quantitative PCR as part of the NIH funded research. He/she will be working with patient samples/tissues and animal tissues. The post-doc will order lab consumables/reagents, perform experiments, maintain lab notebook with recorded data, assist in mentoring undergraduate and post-graduate students, data compilation and presentation, manuscript drafting and grant reports compilation. Post-doc will have to present research findings at national and international scientific conferences.
The candidate must have a PhD degree with expertise in cell and molecular biology including western blot analyses, DNA and RNA purification, cell culture and quantitative PCR.
Special consideration will be given to individuals who have expertise in working with microRNAs, viruses, patient sample handling, animal handling, in situ hybridization, RNA and DNA sequencing analysis.
