Job Description
A post-doctoral fellowship position in childhood obesity, islet biology/insulin secretion/type 2 diabetes and NAFLD is available at the Center for Pediatric Research in Obesity and Metabolism (CPROM) at UPMC-Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. The position is with an established group of investigators studying obesity-associated comorbidities and the pathophysiology of youth-onset type 2 diabetes, specifically islet secretory dysfunction and incretin hormones. The fellow will have the opportunity to undertake pediatric studies that include the use of clamp experiments, and oral glucose tolerance tests to investigate islet biology in health and disease, and in intervention/prevention trials to reverse pathophysiological alterations. Additionally, the fellow will have the prospect to utilize existing data for scientific presentations and publications. Further, the fellow is expected to have or develop expertise in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to assess liver and ectopic fat. Expertise in clinical design and statistics is desirable. The position is available immediately for a minimum of 2-3 years, and will remain vacant until a suitable candidate is available. Interested individuals should send their CV, a letter of intent, and the names of 2-3 references to Marcy Vecchio at marcy.vecchio@chp.edu, Administrative Assistant to Silva Arslanian, M.D.
