Job DescriptionPostdoctoral fellow pursuing research training or PhD postdoctoral scholar with engineering and/or materials science background that would apply for the Multidisciplinary Training Program in Child and Adolescent Health (TL1). Appointment requires a 40 hours/week and above commitment to their training/research/associated career development activities. We are developing the 3D printed bioprosthetic ovary with the goal of restoring fertility and hormone function in women. This project will require investigating some more sophisticated inks and different scaffold designs, which will be tested for larger animal models. We are looking for applicants that are enthusiastic about utilizing their engineering or related science background to solving our biological problems in a Dept of Pediatrics lab.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
1.Involved in daily research and operations in basic and translational science lab
2.Contribute to project design, research protocol development, data analysis, authorship of resultant manuscripts.
3.Contribute to mentoring other trainees in the lab.
4.Willingness and ability to learn some biology techniques (including aseptic technique and primary cell culture)
5.Performs other duties as assigned.
1.PhD in engineering or basic, scientific disciplines (possible areas of research include: bioengineering, informatics, population science, health services research, materials science, operations research, imaging, signal processing and analysis, gaming theory, and communication disorders)
2.Excellent written and oral communication skills
3.Be able to work in a highly collaborative fast-paced environment
4.Be able to successfully interact with diverse stakeholders including: clinicians, basic scientists, and translational researchers.
