Job DescriptionThe Department of Neurology, Neuromuscular Division at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting for a highly qualified postdoctoral researcher to perform research using molecular biology, biochemical, and histological approaches to delineate the molecular pathways that lead to diabetic neuropathy and Diabetic Cognitive Impairment. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and implement new and emerging methodologies to determine novel treatment approaches to diabetic complications. The candidate will join a research program successfully funded through grants from the NIH, foundations, and industry. We are looking for a highly motivated, and career-oriented research individual , with a PhD in molecular biology, neurobiology, physiology or related scientific fields. We are interested in new or recent PhD graduates.

Strong, recent working knowledge with in common molecular biology and immunohistochemistry techniques is required.
Must have strong analytical and writing skills.
Experience working with transgenic mice, breeding colonies, performing experiments in mice preferred.
Experience in mitochondrial biology preferred.
Experience in testing learning performance and neurobehavioral testing preferred.
Experience in cell culture techniques preferred.
