Job DescriptionAn NIH funded post-doctoral position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Dmitry Temiakov, at Thomas Jefferson University to study structural aspects of human mitochondrial gene expression (Hillen et al, Cell 2017 171(5)1072; Hillen et al, Cell 2017, 171(5) 1082; Agaronyan et al., Science 2015, 347:6221, Ringel et al, Nature 2011, 478: 269). The laboratory is located in a newly renovated space of the Department of Biochemistry and has access to core resources for bioimaging, cancer research and structural biology. The Structural Biology Core Facility is in the process of installing Thermo Scientific™ Glacios™ Cryo-Transmission Electron Microscope equipped with Falcon 4 Direct Electron Detector.
We seek to recruit a post-doctoral fellow with an interest in utilizing high-resolution single particle cryo-electron microscopy (cryoEM) to study structural aspects of mitochondrial transcription and replication. Applicants should have experience in structural biology (preferably cryoEM) and molecular biology. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biophysics or equivalent: only candidates that have first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals will be considered.
