Dr. Lu’s lab is focusing on studying integrin-extracellular matrix signaling in kidney inflammation and interstitial fibrosis, and mechanisms of survival, remodeling and regeneration of renal tubular cells after acute kidney injury. In addition Dr. Lu’s lab is also investigating mechanisms of proteinuric glomerular diseases and calcified vasculopathy. Dr. Lu’s lab applies cell culture, organ culture and various tissue injury and transgenic mouse models using comprehensive biochemical, cell biology and molecular approaches and state of the art imaging technology to interrogate mechanism of tissue injury and repair.
