Job DescriptionThe Hong Lab (www.thehonglab.org) at Emory University and the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center is seeking passionate scientists to tackle translational cancer research projects. The focus will be on:
-identifying novel therapeutics in high-risk childhood and young adult cancers such as relapsed Wilms Tumor (kidney cancer) and the SWI/SNF altered cancers such as Rhabdoid Tumor (kidney cancer), ATRT (brain cancer), Renal Medullary Carcinoma (kidney cancer) and Epitheloid Sarcomas (soft tissue cancer)
-understanding mechanisms and expanding our understanding of SMARCB1 biology
We will use genomics (whole exome, whole genome, ATAC-seq, RNA-seq and scRNA-seq), functional genomics (saturating mutagenesis, CRISPR-Cas9 or RNAi), molecular biology, biochemistry and computational biology to address these questions.
A minimum of a Doctoral degree (PhD, MD, MD/PhD or equivalent) is required. Preference to applicants who are finishing graduate school or have less than 1 years of postdoctoral experience (Emory has a maximum postdoc fellowship time of 5 years including prior post-docs). The candidate should possess strong interpersonal communication and analytical skills. The candidate should have written and oral fluency in English. Further, the ideal candidate will be motivated, detailed, goal-oriented and possess excellent organizational skills.
Preference given to those with prior experiences either in:
-functional and structural cancer genomics
-cancer biology and biochemistry
-and/or computational and systems biology.
