Job DescriptionFlorida Atlantic University is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow Hyperspectral Imaging. This position is located in Fort Pierce, FL, FAU’s Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute.

A Postdoctoral Fellow is sought to work in the field of developing compressive sensing (CS) based, hyperspectral and single band active imaging systems. The initial focus of the role will be to develop the theoretical foundation for space borne, CubeSat compatible, passive remote sensing imaging systems for ocean research and surveillance. The Fellow will then design prototype imaging systems to test different concepts in controlled test environments, participate in fabrication of robust prototypes, and participate in field tests to further validate the imaging systems.
Ph.D from an accredited institution in Engineering or a related area of specialization required by the time of application.
Emphasis in signal processing and with experience in developing optical imaging systems is preferred.
Competency in compressive sensing theory and experimental optics is required.
Experience with optical systems using spatial light modulators such as Digital Micromirror Device is preferred.
Experience with algorithm development and hardware design of hyperspectral or multispectral imaging system or spectrometer is preferred.
Experience with signal processing and analysis tools, e.g., MATLAB is required.
Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team with scientists, engineers of different disciplines (electronic, optical, software and computer), technicians and students is required.
Ability to travel, perform field work, and participate in oceanographic research cruises is required.
Valid driver’s license is required.
Flexible hours may be required for field work.
