POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Mechanical Engineering, to perform research on human motor control and physical human-robot interaction. Research directed by Professor Neville Hogan in the Newman Laboratory aims to understand how humans manage their remarkable agility and dexterity; optimize physical collaboration between humans and machines; and develop innovative, enabling, therapeutic, and assistive technologies. Much of this research is conducted in collaboration with Professor Dagmar Sternad’s Action Lab at Northeastern University. The Newman Laboratory is located in Cambridge on the banks of the Charles River, in the heart of the Boston area, a stimulating environment for interdisciplinary research. Will be expected to contribute to specific ongoing research projects, but will be encouraged to bring expertise and ideas to all existing and potential new projects.
REQUIRED: Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, electrical and/or computer engineering, physics, or motor neuroscience. Candidates from other relevant disciplines will be considered but experience with robotic analysis and control of electro-mechanical systems is important. Facility with modern computational tools is expectd, e.g., MATLAB, C++, Python, Statistics, etc. Experience with human subject experimentation would be an asset.
