Job Description
The Wehrens lab focuses on the regulation of cardiac ion channels in normal and diseased hearts, with an emphasis on proteins that modulate intracellular calcium handling. Current projects focus on deciphering the pathogenesis of atrial fibrillation, cardiomyopathy, and heart failure. The lab is also focused on gene therapy and genome editing approaches for the treatment of arrhythmias and heart failure.
- The research will involve all aspects of cloning, recombinant protein expression, isolation of cardiac myocytes, patch-clamping and/or calcium imaging, and in vivo studies in mouse models of cardiac disease.
- The candidate is expected to be highly motivated, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, and have good paper and grant writing skills.
- MD or Ph.D in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
