Job DescriptionThe Laboratories of Neuroimmunology consist of the research teams of five collaborating Principal Investigators who aim at understanding chronic pain, cognitive deficits and fatigue in response to cancer treatment.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Postdoctoral Researcher to study how the antioxidant transcription factor NRF2 regulates neuroinflammation and neuronal hyperexcitability in neuropathic pain (Li et al., Anesthesiology (2020) 132: 343-56). Investigations will be performed using mouse models of neuropathic pain and DRG neurons isolated from human donors. Experience in working with rodents and a background in pain or immunology is preferred. The position is funded by a National Institutes of Health grant and is available immediately. The post-doctoral fellow will work under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator on this NIH-funded project.

1. Research Activity
• Live cell imaging
• Luciferase assays and immunoassays
• CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing in vitro and in vivo
• Nerve injury surgery
• Intrathecal drug treatments in vivo
• Behavioral assays of pain in mice
• Collect and process ex vivo biological samples including brain and spinal cord
• Assay human DRG neurons
• Immunohistochemistry and microscopy studies on cells and nervous system tissues
• Western blotting and qPCR
• Present results in departmental and national meetings
• Prepare and write manuscripts for publication.
