Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) with a competitive track record in the areas of mouse genetics, Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, and/or Biochemistry.
Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) with a background in pancreatic cancer, cancer metabolism, inflammation, and redox regulation. Publications in a highly regarded scientific journal(s).
Brief Description of Duties:
A postdoctoral fellow position is immediately available in Dr. Weiqin Lu's laboratory at the Stony Brook University School of Medicine, Stony Brook, NY. Dr. Lu's lab conducts high-impact, cutting-edge research in the cross areas of metabolism, redox regulation, inflammation, and pancreatic cancer, which is well-funded with support from NIDDK, NCI, and DoD. Please refer to one of our recent publications for more information (Gastroenterology PMID: 31352001). The Postdoctoral Associates will mainly conduct experiments using novel genetic mouse models for in-depth mechanistic studies of obesity and pancreatitis in pancreatic tumorigenesis. He/she is expected to independently conduct research projects within predetermined research scope and methodology, participate/assist with preparing manuscripts for publication, and present research findings at national meetings. In addition, applicants are expected to have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Applicants should possess the ability to work cohesively and effectively within the lab.
The duties of this position include:
Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, Independently conducting study designs, experiments, data collections, and data analyses.
Working on mouse models and maintaining the mouse database.
Participate/assist with preparing manuscripts for publishing in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Other duties as assigned.
The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption. Evening and weekend work will be required at times.
