Job DescriptionWe are seeking a motivated scholar to conduct cross-disciplinary research that employs cutting edge human iPSC and CRISPRi/a technology as well as classical CRISPR editing to model neurodegenerative disease in vitro using iPSC-derived 2D and 3D models. The scholar will participate in a robust training program preparing him/her to become an independent investigator. He/she will present data at scientific meetings, prepare manuscripts, apply for research funding, and mentor junior members of the lab. This position will also serve as an opportunity to the successful candidate to collaborate with experts in academia and industry.
The Ullian lab has a longstanding interest in utilizing iPSCs to study human neuronal-glial interactions and how these interactions impact development and disease using cutting edge stem cells technologies. Our lab has numerous cross disciplinary collaborations with various labs throughout UCSF and across the US providing a fertile training and intellectual environment for pursuing novel methodologies to model the human aging brain environment.
Requirements: Candidates should have a PhD degree in cell biology and/or neuroscience, some experience in the neurodegeneration field would be beneficial but is not required. A strong interest and working knowledge in iPSC maintenance and microglial generation is preferred. Experience with generation of human neurons and astrocytes is helpful but not required.
