Job DescriptionA postdoctoral research fellowship is available with a focus on the genetics of complex human autoimmune and inflammatory diseases in a productive laboratory at the University of Pittsburgh.
The applicant is expected to be well versed in the analysis and interpretation of genome-wide association data and next-generation sequencing data including exome and targeted sequencing, and whole-genome sequencing. The applicant is expected to be comfortable with computational biology and the statistical analysis of large genetic data sets. Experience using PLINK and R, population stratification and imputation analyses, and sequence alignment and filtering is expected. Experience in programing is preferred. Applicants must demonstrate a clear interest in pursuing an independent career in human genetics.
Successful candidates must hold a PhD in statistical genetics, genetic epidemiology, or bioinformatics. Applicants must be within 1-3 years from the time they obtained their PhD, and must demonstrate a clear interest in pursuing an independent career in science.
