Job DescriptionA post-doctoral fellow position is available in the Department of Radiation Physics at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The research involves development of tools to quantify the relationship between radiation plans and patient outcomes. The ideal candidates should have finished (or be about to finish) their Ph.D. degrees in medical physics, computer science, physics, engineering or applied mathematics. Programming skills in Python, R and/or C# is required. The individual is expected to work within a large group of motivated interdisciplinary professionals.
Candidates who do not meet the CAMPEP course requirements will have the opportunity to take the classes towards a certificate in medical physics (needed for eligibility for entrance to a medical physics residency).
The Department of Radiation Physics in the Division of Radiation Oncology provides clinical, research, and education services to one of the largest and most advanced radiation oncology centers in the United States. The Radiation Physics Department currently has more than 65 medical physicists to support various specialized treatment procedures. The Division of Radiation Oncology is the best equipped for research-driven patient care as well as research and development of new technologies. Radiation Oncology currently has a 94,000 square-foot Proton Therapy Center, 25 medical linear accelerators for photon therapy, and 8 CT simulators.
