Job DescriptionA postdoctoral position is available immediately in Prof. Erkin Şeker’s Laboratory at University of California, Davis (UC Davis) in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The projects are broadly on the development of microphysiological models of neuroinflammation, neurodegeneration, and the gut-brain axis. The position requires demonstrated expertise in neurobiology and electrophysiology of central and peripheral nervous system cells.
UC Davis is located in a beautiful natural setting near the Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area which offers abundant opportunities for academic and industry collaborations. The selected postdoc will have the opportunity to conduct research in a truly interdisciplinary setting with close interactions with Center for Neuroengineering & Medicine, Center for Nano-Micro Manufacturing, and School of Veterinary Medicine. Overall, the postdoc will conduct novel research while receiving training in grantsmanship and graduate student mentorship. The compensation is commensurate with NIH postdoc salary scale with excellent benefits package.
Candidates with the following expertise are invited to apply:
- Neural electrophysiology and biology
- Dissection and culture of rat/mouse CNS and PNS cells
- Morphological, genomic, and proteomic analysis of cultures (required)
- Electrochemical sensing protocols (desirable, but not required)
- Microfabrication (desirable, but not required)
In addition, candidates are required to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, an ability to collaborate with scientists outside their discipline as well as think independently and show strong motivation to conduct multidisciplinary research.
