Job DescriptionThe X-ray Science Division of Argonne National Laboratory is seeking a Postdoctoral Appointee to mainly conduct fundamental research on liquid and solid electrolytes with synchrotron-based measurements.
The postdoctoral appointee will be responsible for:
The Investigation of liquid electrolytes' solvation structures with small-angle/wide-angle X-ray scattering, FT-IR, and Raman spectroscopy.
The synthesis of solid-state electrolytes and the study of their structure-property relationships using a wide array of techniques, including synchrotron-based X-ray diffraction, as well as X-ray Absorption spectroscopy and pair distribution function analysis.
The development of new experimental strategies, including operando/in-situ sample cells and sample environments.
The screening of high-performance electrolytes for lithium ion batteries, sodium batteries and beyond.
The preparation of manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and reports on conferences.
Working independently and as part of a team, developing experimental plans, performing experiments, and analyzing data.
Education and Experience Requirements
Background in structural analysis using small-angle/wide-angle X-ray scattering and crystallographic methods.
Strong experimental skills as necessary for synchrotron measurements and hands-on experience in a laboratory environment.
Specific expertise in one or more of the following: operando/in-situ characterization, inorganic chemistry, and solution chemistry.
Solid background of electrochemistry, able to conduct the battery assembly, cyclic voltammetry, EIS, and galvanostatic test.
Considerable skills in material synthesis and characterization, including Raman, FT-IR, NMR, SEM, TEM, TGA, et. al.
Demonstrated strong motivation toward creative basic research.
Good communication and teamwork spirit.
