The Musculoskeletal Orthopedics Biomechanics Lab (MOBL) group at University of Massachusetts Amherst (Prof. Katherine Boyer) is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to participate in NIH and Industry funded research examining impacts of age, muscle fatigue and footwear of lower extremity biomechanics.
This postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for
Development and implementation of clinical research protocols
Recruitment and screening of human subjects
Perform a variety of laboratory experiments to examine biomechanical and neuromuscular function of human participants across the lifespan.
Process and analyze biomechanical and neuromuscular including motion capture, electromyography, dynamometer and metabolic data and magnetic resonance images.
Record results, organize data and perform statistical analysis
Maintain laboratory supplies and equipment
Purchasing and financial reporting
Prepare and write manuscripts for peer review journal publications
Present results at national and international conferences
Supervise graduate and undergraduate students working in the lab
Participate in weekly lab meetings with Dr. Boyer and her research team, as well as all relevant meetings, seminars and workshops for the assigned projects.
Applicants should have completed a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant field of study (e.g., Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Biology, Engineering, Physics). Desirable qualifications include, but are not limited to:
a background in performing motion capture and electromyography studies
Fluency in MATLAB or similar programming language.
Knowledge of basic MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic applications.
Experience with writing and managing IRB protocols (preferred) and conducting human subject’s research
Experience with clinical trials (preferred)
