We are seeking a Postdoctoral Appointee to conduct research on theory and application of neural inspired machine learning algorithms in collaboration with our team of neuroscientists, computer scientists, mathematicians, and engineers.On any given day, you may be called on to: + Develop and extend neural-inspired machine learning algorithms, such as deep neural networks and reinforcement learning for application to national security missions + Research theoretical principles such as computational complexity and scale to help understand performance + Develop new application areas for neural-inspired computing in fields like high-performance computing, remote sensing, autonomous vehicles, and cybersecurity + Work across teams to implement and explore novel solutions for challenging application areas + Publish research results in high-quality journals and competitive conference venues
+ Possess, or are pursuing, a PhD in computer science, applied mathematics, engineering, or relevant field + Experience with theoretical and practical aspects of machine learning, especially neural networks or similar techniques + Experience in a programming language such as Python or C ++ + Able to acquire and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance
+ Interest in neural-inspired and ground breaking machine learning algorithms (e.g. reinforcement learning, deep neural networks, spiking neural networks, recurrent neural networks) + Interest in resource (e.g. SWaP or Data) constrained machine learning and deep learning methods and techniques. + Experience with computational architectures such as GPUs, FPGAs, neuromorphic processors, or machine learning accelerators. + Experience with neural network modeling languages (PyTorch, Tensorflow, Keras, etc) or neural modeling languages (PyNN, NEST, NEURON, etc) + Experience with large-scale or distributed neural network training and hyperparmater optimization. + Research publications in neuroscience journals or machine learning conferences

The PhD must have been conferred within five years prior to employment.
