Job Description
Summary
A full-time postdoctoral position is available in the lab of Dr. Elizabeth Zuniga-Sanchez at Baylor College of Medicine in the fields of genetics, neuroscience, and molecular biology.
Our lab focuses on uncovering the molecular mechanisms that guide neural circuit formation in the developing nervous system. Specifically, how the dendrites and axons from different neuronal subtypes discriminate between one another to form precise and highly reproducible patterns of synaptic connections. To address this question, we use the mouse retina as a model system and employ the latest advancements in the field such as single cell sequencing, CRISPR/Cas9 technology, live imaging, and single neuron labeling approaches. Through these studies, we aim to uncover general principles of neural circuit formation and how this relates to neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders.
