Research Fellow in the Climates of Exoplanets
- University of Leeds
- Location: Leeds, United Kingdom
- Job Number: 7089751 (Ref #: EPSPA1046)
- Posting Date: Nov 26, 2021
Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have an established background in simulating the climates of extra-solar planets? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research-intensive universities?
You will work on a UKRI-funded project with Dr Catherine Walsh to investigate the role of impacts from volatile-rich small bodies on the chemistry and climate of terrestrial exoplanets. You will adapt 1D and 3D coupled-chemistry models to include source terms from evaporating small bodies. You will simulate the structure and composition of the atmospheres of rocky planets and you will produce simulated observations to make predictions with future facilities.
You will have a PhD (or you will have submitted your thesis prior to taking up the appointment) in astronomy, astrophysics, or atmospheric science, you will have experience in the simulation of planetary atmospheres, and a developing track record of peer-reviewed publications in international journals.
