Job Description
Summary
A postdoctoral position is available to study brain mechanisms for learning and memory and their involvements in social behavior, neurological disorders, and/or drug-induced brain states. The successful candidate will perform electrophysiological recordings that monitor a large number of neurons in freely moving rats during behavioral tasks, and/or analyzed the electrophysiological data. A Ph.D. in basic sciences/engineering or equivalent is required. Candidates with background in physical sciences and engineering are encouraged to apply. Previous experience in behavioral studies and/or electrophysiology is preferred.
Job Duties
- Performs electrophysiological recordings and other related experiments in behaving animals.
- Analyzes electrophysiological data using Matlab-based computer programs.
- Reports analysis results in meetings and/or writing manuscript.
- Trains rodents (rats, mice) on learning and memory tasks.
- Performs surgical brain-implant procedures in rodents.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate degree in a related field.
