Job Description
Summary
The Patras Lab at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to assist with funded research projects focusing on host-microbe interactions of the female urogenital tract. The Patras Lab studies host and bacterial factors, including the vaginal microbiota, in the context of maternal-neonatal health and bacterial pathogenesis. Research activities will include molecular microbiology, tissue and organoid culture, microbiome analyses, and experimental studies in mice.
Job Duties
- Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments.
- Conducts laboratory procedures: molecular microbiology, tissue culture experiments, and mouse husbandry and procedures.
- Collects, compiles, and analyzes data.
- Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
- Documents methods and results of experiments to ensure that work can be replicated by others.
- Selects, evaluates and applies techniques used in routine research.
- Writes manuscript to report the findings.
- Attends departmental seminars and other scientific events.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- Experience Required: None Required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Microbiology, Immunology, or a related field.
