Summary
Dr. Joshua Riback of Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) is seeking a postdoctoral associate to lead fundamental new directions in his new laboratory at Baylor College of Medicine, Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology. Dr. Riback’s research focuses on the cell biology of RNA protein assembly (e.g. ribosomal subunit) biogenesis and transport and physics of biological condensates. The candidate will explore the underlying principles of biological condensates aiming to connect their liquid-like biophysical properties to their essential biochemical and cellular roles relevant to neurodegenerative diseases and cancer.
Job Duties
- Designs, leads, and disseminates cutting-edge high-impact research with consultation of faculty.
- Consults with faculty to determine and purchase equipment and reagents.
- Demonstrates use and care of equipment and protocols, involving cloning (e.g. PCR, gibson assembly, etc) and tissue culture, to research personnel in the laboratory.
- Maintains documentation of reagents, such as chemicals, enzymes, and plasmids, and research protocols for the lab on the cloud.
- Supervises laboratory personnel and assists in research projects in reagent generation and data collection including with cloning, tissue culture, and microscopy acquisition.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education Required: MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- Experience Required: None Required.
