The Oberholster Laboratory in the Department of Viticulture and Enology at UC Davis, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher with extensive expertise in Analytical Chemistry, especially LC-MS/MS. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in chemistry, with emphasis on using chromatography (GC and HPLC) and mass spectrometry to quantify various analytes in complex mixtures. Experience in aerosol complex mixtures and viticulture and enology is a plus. The research project focuses on the impact of grape smoke exposure on grape and wine composition. Kinetics of absorption, impact of genotype as well as the impact of different vineyard and winemaking treatments will be investigated. The postdoc will be responsible for developing and optimizing instrument methodologies, collecting samples, data analysis and disseminating findings via presentations and peer-reviewed publications.
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
A Ph.D in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, (Bio)Chemistry, Plant Sciences or Weed Sciences
Experience in grapes and wine is a plus
Experience in analyzing atmospheric samples can be a plus
