Job Description
The Zeevi Lab at Hadassah Academic College in Jerusalem, Israel, has a Postdoctoral Fellow position available for a bioinformatician. We offer a unique dataset, competitive salary, and the possibility of doing the postdoc either in Israel, or remotely. Analyze our data wherever you are in the world!
We are studying the genetic basis of Type 1 Diabetes. Together with our collaborators - leading endocrinologists from all around Israel - we have recruited extremely large nuclear families with at least two Type 1 Diabetes-affected first-degree relatives. We apply cutting-edge sequencing technologies to gain high coverage and fully phased whole-genomes. We then utilize advanced statistical and bioinformatic methods for genetic analysis of complex traits in families and founder populations. Our goal is to map genetic variants that have large effects on the risk of Type 1 Diabetes, and then use this information to design a custom genotyping array for estimating diabetes risk in relatives of affected individuals and in the general population. This array will be used in diabetes clinics, and provide true personalized medicine. For more details on the lab please see www.zeevilab.org.
We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow to lead several bioinformatic projects.
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in computational biology and biostatistics and previous publications on genetic analysis in humans. Candidates must hold a PhD or anticipating such a degree prior to starting the postdoc.
