Job Description
A postdoctoral position is available for a highly motivated individual in the tumor immunology research laboratory of Dr. Brian Olson at the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. The Olson laboratory is focused on understanding how personalized therapies designed at modulating the tumor microenvironment can be used to develop rational combination therapies to improve the effectiveness of cancer immunotherapy, and to move these approaches into early phase clinical trials for patients with cancer. The group is seeking a post-doctoral researcher who is interested in cancer immunology and improving outcomes for patients with advanced malignancies, including projects in prostate, pancreatic, and head and neck cancer.A successful candidate will join a collaborative research team that works closely with physician-scientists, laboratory researchers, and team members throughout the NCI-designated Winship Cancer Institute. They will utilize cutting-edge technologies on clinical trials samples, highly relevant and novel in vivo tumor models, and molecular biology to further our understanding about how to personalize immunotherapy for patients with cancer. These applicants will also be provided with mentorship to facilitate their own independent career development, and will interact with other members of the research team to advance these multi-disciplinary research projects into the clinic.
Qualified applicants will have a PhD in immunology, cancer biology, or related fields. Preference will be given to individuals with technical experience in cytometry approaches (flow and/or mass cytometry), murine models of cancer, cell culture and molecular biology. Additionally, strong communication skills and scientific writing are of importance, as is experience working at the intersection of laboratory and clinical science.
