Job Description
The Department of OBGYN is seeking to hire an Associate Research Scientist to study neurodegenerative diseases using mouse model within the laboratory of Dr. Yousin Suh. The individual will be in charge of the creation and routine maintenance of all mouse strains/colonies used in Yousin Suh’s lab. In addition, the individual will be mainly responsible for animal experiments including but not limited to behavioral tests, frailty evaluation, brain surgery, cell transplantation etc. The individual will also be responsible for maintaining IACUC approved animal protocols as well as facilitating the day to day cellular and molecular biology laboratory operations.Skills
Knowledge of biology and various related laboratory procedures and techniques.
Abundant experience with animal handling is needed.
Experience in mouse behavioral tests is needed.
Experience in other mouse evaluation experiments is preferred.
Ability to organize assigned experiments in standard form and record data
Ability to learn and adapt to new techniques
Ability to perform work in a neat and orderly manner in accordance with safety regulations
Responsibilities
Mouse colony maintaining, including but not restricted to breeding set up, weaning, and genotyping.
Maintains a log of mouse census using an online TransnetYX system.
Works on mouse behavioral tests independently.
Works on other mouse evaluation experiments (e.g., frailty evaluation, IVIS imaging, and etc.).
Works and assists on survival surgeries (e.g., osmotic pump implantation, brain injection, ovary transplantation, parabiosis, cell transplantation, and etc.)
Assists with mouse non-survival surgeries, organ collections, sample sections, immunohistology staining, and confocal imaging.
Assists with cell cultures and molecular biology work.
Maintains IACUC approved animal protocols.

Qualifications
Minimum Degree Required
A Ph.D. degree in biology or related science
Experience or postdoctoral training in a clinical or research laboratory
Minimum Qualifications
