Postdoctoral Fellow investigating Cellular Mechanism in the Hematopoietic Stem Cell Niche. Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York
- Albert Einstein College of Medicine
- Location: Bronx, NY
- Job Number: 7101671
- Posting Date: Jun 8, 2022
- Application Deadline: Aug 6, 2022
Job Description
The Maryanovich Laboratory at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York is recruiting postdoctoral fellows with an interest and/or expertise in (1) Hematopoietic stem cell biology. (2) Microenvironmental regulation of stem cell function. (3) Microenvironmental control of myeloid malignancies. (4) Reactive oxygen species biology in stem cells.Lab background:
The Maryanovich laboratory uses genetic mouse models and cultured cells to understand how hematopoietic stem cells are maintained and mature in the bone marrow. The major focus of the lab is to study the role of the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) and its role in shaping niches for hematopoietic stem cells. The primary focus of the lab is to investigate how neural signals are propagated in the bone marrow niche and the consequence of SNS dysfunction on niche aging and the development of myeloid malignancies.
Lab expertise:
The lab specializes in generating complex conditional, inducible, and transgenic mouse strains to dissect mechanisms/pathways in the niche that regulate HSC maintenance. In addition, the lab focuses on developing tissue culture methodologies for hematopoietic and mesenchymal stem cells to study cellular networks and mechanisms of neural signal circuity and advanced confocal imaging methodologies for visualizing the bone marrow microenvironment.

2. Prior experience (with first-author publication) in any of the following relevant areas is highly desired: Cell Biology, Hematopoietic Stem Cell Biology, Stem Cell Biology, and Metabolism.
3. Experience with mouse genetic models, multi-color flow cytometry, tissue culture, and confocal microscopy is highly desired.
To apply:
Please email your CV and a cover letter summarizing your experience, along with the contact information of three references [email protected] addressed to Maria Maryanovich Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Research, Department of Cell Biology, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, NY.
Location:
Maryanovich Laboratory is part of the Ruth L. and David S. Gottesman Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine and the Department of Cell Biology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. We are located in a residential area in the northeast corner of New York City with a short commute from Manhattan by express trains/buses or from Westchester County in New York state. We offer competitive salary and benefits packages with optional postdoctoral housing on campus.
