What We Are Looking For
The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Baylor University is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to start by June 1, 2022 to work under the mentorship of Dr. Stacy Ryan-Pettes. The postdoctoral fellow will work on a multi-site NIH-funded randomized controlled trial examining a caregiver contingency management intervention for youth on probation, a PCORI-funded Engagement Award to prepare a local juvenile detention center for patient-centered outcomes research, and a Baylor-sponsored pilot project focused on adapting and assessing the acceptability and feasibility of a telehealth platform for the provision of probation supervision within a local juvenile probation department.
Dr. Ryan-Pettes studies adolescent response to evidence-based substance use treatments in community settings, the use of technology to enhance adolescent substance use treatment outcomes, and ethical conduct of treatment research with vulnerable populations. Dr. Ryan-Pettes' lab is housed within the Psychology Clinic to allow for easy access by community participants and collaborates with research teams within the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience and across the campus, including social work.
Required Skills: Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology or a related behavioral health field. Previous experience providing behavioral interventions is required. Ideal candidates will have strong verbal and written communication skills, good methodological and data analytic skills, an appreciation of transdisciplinary approaches, and data management skills. More, individuals will be highly motivated and possess initiative.
Preferred Skills and Interests: Experience providing evidence-based interventions with adolescents and their families is preferred, as is a strong background in statistics and analysis of randomized controlled trial research designs. Competitive applicants will have a track record of scholarly productivity and a commitment to a career in substance use research or research with justice-involved youth and their families. Competitive candidates will be interested in developing and implementing applied research projects to improve the reach and effectiveness of treatment services for justice-involved youth.
Supervised clinical hours will be available for those seeking licensure as a clinical psychologist. However, the primary focus of this position is research training, and trainees will have to apply for a limited permit from the State of Texas.
Dates: The start date is June 1, 2022, and the appointment may be extended for additional years contingent on performance. Candidates who can stay in the position for two or more years are preferred.
Salary: $47,500 plus fringe benefits

• Create and manage the study database.
• Train and supervise doctoral students and lower-level volunteers involved in the projects.
• Conduct data analyses.
• Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission.
• Ability to comply with university policies.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Mentorship will be provided for manuscript preparation, grant writing, and the development of an independent research program.
