Job Description
Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have a background in data science or health data analytics? Do you want to work for an Institute leading in clinical trials research and impacting international clinical practice? Do you want to be part of a successful, highly talented, and multi-disciplinary team?
The Clinical Trials Research Unit (CTRU) at the Leeds Institute of Clinical Trials Research (LICTR) is an international leader in the field of clinical trials. The Unit is one of the largest in the UK and conducts national and international early phase and late phase clinical trials in a variety of clinical fields. Our main aim is to develop and support novel and efficient trials to change clinical practice for the better. Our past results and current research have already helped to do this. Our results inform the academic development of this specialised field of clinical research on a national and international level. Particularly, we specialise in complex phase III trials, early phase I/II trials, biomarker-driven designs, seamless phase II/III designs, adaptive designs and the development, optimisation and evaluation of complex interventions, including cluster randomised and complex factorial designs. You will be responsible for leading a specialised portfolio of trials research.
We are seeking to appoint a Senior Research Fellow in Data Science to join the Leeds Cancer Research UK Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) led by Prof. Julia Brown. This post is available immediately and offers an exciting opportunity to lead the development and implementation of several projects using routine data sources and electronic health records in conjunction with clinical trials. This will initially focus in our haematology portfolio, implementing and then assessing the effectiveness of using routine national datasets and/or electronic health care records to perform trial follow-up, collaborating with HDR UK – the national institute for health data science, including their cancer hub (DATA-CAN), and MRC MRC-NIHR Trials Methodology Research Partnership (TMRP).
