The School for the Future of Innovation in Society invites applicants for a full-time, academic year (August 16 – May 15), Clinical Assistant Professor position to support teaching and student mentoring in the Master of Science in Global Technology and Development. The MS in Global Technology and Development (GTD) offers a global program that encompasses social, economic and political development, while highlighting the variables of technology and innovation in these development processes.
We seek to complement the current faculty in terms of development experience, areas of teaching and research, at the same time, add to the group of faculty that offer the programs’ core curriculum on a regular basis. The core consists of an introduction to global development, development policies and practices, and research design and methods. The primary responsibilities would be to: teach 3 courses per semester in the GTD program, develop and revise curriculum, mentor graduate students in their applied projects, and to engage in relevant activities and collaborations within the School. There is also the potential to move into a role that includes program leadership.
Clinical professor positions are fixed-term, benefits-eligible, non-tenure eligible appointments. The anticipated start date is January 2023. Renewal is contingent on satisfactory job performance, continued availability of funding, and the needs of the academic unit and university. Candidates must reside in Arizona, or be willing to relocate, and must maintain a regular presence on campus.
• PhD in Development Studies, Global Development, or relevant discipline by time of appointment.
• Teaching experience: Evidence of having taught at least 1 course as the sole instructor of record, and a combination of TA work and/or student mentoring.
• Relevant research agenda to the field of global development.
• Ability to communicate across disciplines and cultures: Evidence of experience living and working in different cultures, working on multinational/cultural collaborations, and/or teaching students from a diversity of backgrounds.
• Online teaching experience and pedagogical design/innovation
• Expertise in a world region, preferably Asia or Africa
• Global development project experience
