Salary Range: *Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential. What Your Job Will Be Like: We are seeking a hardworking and conscientious Nuclear Engineering or Physics Postdoctoral Appointee to join our dynamic team. You will need experience in the field of radiation detection, which can include detector design, laboratory or field measurements with nuclear sources, computational simulation of nuclear phenomena or radiation transport, or signature analysis, such as gamma spectroscopy. Experienced staff will work with you to provide on-the-job training and peer review of your results. On any given day, you may be called on to: + Model detector response and analyze spectroscopic signatures. + Model and simulate nuclear phenomena and radiation transport. + Plan and conduct lab or field measurements. + Document and present your results. + Develop data analysis tools. + Support sensor design teams. + Contribute to R&D proposals. + Effectively team with others to produce results This position requires occasional travel. Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 100% of the time. Qualifications We Require: + PhD in Nuclear Engineering or Nuclear Physics or other relevant STEM field conferred within the last 5 years + Demonstrated experience in radiation detection, which can include detector design and development, measurements, modeling, or signature analysis + Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q clearance + Ability to acquire and maintain a SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph Qualifications We Desire: + High degree of academic success in undergraduate and graduate programs + Experience using MCNP, Attila, GEANT or similar software to simulate radiation transport or nuclear phenomena + Experience creating software-based data analysis tools + Knowledge of nuclear fuel cycles or materials for radiation detection + Proven ability to produce technical documents and communicate effectively through presentations + Good teaming, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills + Desire to innovate About Our Team: The Systems Technologies Department supports sensor development and analysis efforts for U.S. Government sponsors. The scope of work in the Department ranges from research of new capabilities, the development of novel sensing systems, to feasibility studies and signature analysis.
